Spoornet Hosts International Railway Safety Conference
Spoornet will host the 15th International Railway Safety conference (IRSC), which will be held from the 9th to 14th October 2005 in Cape Town.
The conference will be hosted in conjunction with various important role players in the South African Railway Industry, including the South African Railway Commuter Association and the Rail Safety Regulator.
Participants will represent various railway companies throughout the world and also include representatives from Railway Safety Regulators, Railway Associations, Labour Organisations, Departments of Transport and safety experts and consultants.
The theme for the conference is "Innovative Safety Solutions for Tomorrow's Railway", and the reports and recommendations that emerge from this conference will generate quality inputs to safety management so that the industry's commitment to safety as the foundation of an efficient well- run railway can be demonstrated at all times.
The conference will be officially opened on Monday 10th of October 2005 by the Minister of Public Enterprises, Mr Alec Irwin.
